Upcoming Show at CAG - Centerville Art Gallery

Under Sea 1, acrylic/mixed media on canvas, 28" x 28", painting and photo by Christine Klinger

The Centerville Arts Commission is pleased to announce the November Art Gallery exhibit will feature “Water Abstracts and Sculpture by Christine Klinger” at the Centerville Police Department, 155 W. Spring Valley Road in Centerville. The exhibit runs from 11/2 through 11/30/18 and may be viewed anytime, day or night. The Centerville Arts Commission will host an artist’s reception 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, November 9 in the gallery to introduce the collection to the community. Light refreshments will be served.

Klinger is a sculptor, painter and photographer. She says the exhibit will show her fascination with water and “how powerful and beautiful it is, how we treat it, take it for granted, and how dependent we are on it – in all its various bodies and forms.”

The former coordinator of Rosewood Gallery in Kettering, Klinger lives in Yellow Springs, where she is a member of the Village Artisans Cooperative Gallery. A painter since 2006, she received an Artist in Residency in painting and photography from the State of South Carolina in 2011. She has written and photographed for publications and exhibited in Ohio, South Carolina and California. Klinger has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Antioch College and a master’s degree in Photojournalism from Ohio University. For more information, please visit www.klingerart.com.

Centerville Arts Commission was created by Centerville City Council to involve the citizens of the Centerville area in the visual and performing arts. For more information, call 937- 433-7151 or visit www.centervilleohio.gov.

Upcoming Shows at Emporium and Yellow Springs Arts Council

I'm all over the place! I have 2 shows coming up in Yellow Springs. More later - elsewhere.

I'm showing at the Emporium/Underdog Cafe, 233 Xenia Ave., YSO, 8/11/18 - 10/7/18. The show is called CHRISTINE KLINGER - Abstracts Old and New. I'll show some new work and you'll see some great deals on the old work. I still like it but I have to make room! The opening reception is Sat., 8/11, 3 - 6 PM. (Same day as Art on the Lawn). Shows and party are free. Be there - or not. Here's a postcard for that one:

I'm also showing at the Yellow Springs Arts Council Gallery. The postcard below says it all, although you're always welcome to contact me here or via facebook (though I'm not in there much) if you have any questions. Hope you can make it to one or both!

The Animal Attraction

I love animals - friendly ones that is - and I have had my share of cats, dogs, fish, turtles, etc. over the years. I miss my beautiful Himalayan cat Lucy, who left us last year after 14 1/2 years of happy, healthy life. So besides painting, photography, sculpture and teaching, I do the occasional pet care job - your place or mine. (I also house sit and care for plants, mail, etc.) More information will probably show up here at some point, but you are also free to contact me about it by visiting one of my other blogs - one that's exclusively about animals - animal art, animal information, animal care, and a little bit on plants as well. So stop in and say hello sometime at The Animal Attraction blog. I'll put a link to it on the right.
P.S. On the near right is a little 8" x 6" oil portrait I painted of Lucy. I titled it her full (Cat Fancier) name: Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. (She's the only pure-bred cat I've ever had - they are usually strays who find me).
