Clouds 1

I know I haven't posted for awhile, but that doesn't mean I haven't been painting. Here's the first in a series of sky paintings I've been doing. This one's called, appropriately enough, Clouds 1. Enjoy.

Summer in the Park

Here's a new one I recently painted at Hills and Dales park in Kettering, Ohio. It's an 11" x 14" oil on canvas I call "Summer in the Park." It will (when it dries) be wired and ready to hang, with black painted edges. So it can be displayed as is or slipped into a standard-size frame. This one, and the rest, are available on our website: www.klingerart.com, or by emailing me. Thanks.

Pine Shadows

Here is a new 14" x 11" oil on canvas I made from observation alla prima (in one setting) a few days ago. It's wired and ready to hang. I'm calling it "Pine Shadows." Enjoy.

Willow Day

I made this painting at a lovely park I'd never been to before in Kettering, Ohio. Amazing what we have around us and never realize. The piece is a 14" x 11" oil on canvas I've been calling "Willow Day." Enjoy.

(P.S. I'm just reposting this one because I wanted it smaller, like the others.)

Red Delicious

Here's a last look at an apple I brought back from my Florida trip. It's a 6" x 8" oil on panel titled "Red Delicious," and the subject was, indeed, red and delicious. Enjoy.

Darling Clementines

It's back to the indoor painting again. This piece is a 6" x 8" oil on panel called "Darling Clementines." I've always liked these little fruits - which some call small oranges and others call tangerines. I just call them Clementines. Enjoy.

Early Signs

Here's my take from the one nice day we had last week. It's a little 8" x 6" oil on panel called "Early Signs." All the snow and rain have made for a nicely running stream in our woods. This, along with patches of grass and moss, make it seem like Spring can't be too far away.

Gulf Sunset

Here's the last of my little Florida paintings - a 6" x 8" oil on panel I just call "Gulf Sunset." I saw a lot of great ones down there, but this one really caught my artistic attention. Purchase options, as usual, are on our website, klingerart.com. Enjoy.

Royalty

Here's another impressionistic view of some of the lovely Florida palms I can now see only in paint and pixels. There are many, many varieties of palms but these - the Royals - are among the grandest, in my opinion. Here's a group of young Royals, hence the title. Enjoy.

Two Grannies

Here's a new still life I finished recently. I figure that's a good thing to do when it's cold outside. This one's a 6" x 8" oil on panel I call "Two Grannies." I've been so prolific these days, especially with these little paintings, I'm thinking of having a big sale. If that interests you - let me know! Thanks.

Pink Hibiscus

Enough of this snow - I'm back to the Florida painting. Here's the latest I just finished of one of the flowering shrubs they prune with shears down there. The more they prune - the more they bloom; lovely. Purchase options on klingerart.com.

New Sculpture Class in Yellow Springs at JBCP

Not to confuse you, but I am planning to teach a clay sculpture class at John Bryan Community Pottery in Yellow Springs next month. I know most folks think of me as a painter, but I sculpted and taught in clay for many years before I dove into the paint. (Some people still think of me as a photographer - which is fine since I still do that too). Follow your bliss. There's a link to JBCP over on the right, with my class on it. It is scheduled to start Wed., 4/3/13, 6:30 - 9 pm, and run for 8 weeks. All levels are welcome. Feel free to contact me or JBCP with any questions. The piece above is titled "A Hard Reign." It's one of mine that's currently in the Yellow Springs Arts Council's Members Show, "Art for Change" until 3/10/13, I believe.

Sailor's Delight

I'm obviously more of an impressionist than a photo-realist - but these are the colors I saw, and felt. It's a little 8" x 6" oil on panel I'm calling "Sailor's Delight." I may try to make a larger one at some point, but this one makes me happy for now. Klingerart.com has the purchase options. Enjoy.

Oasis

Our hotel had a lovely pool so I took the opportunity to portray it with a little 6" x 8" oil on panel I'm calling "Oasis." Enjoy. Purchase options on our site www.klingerart.com.

Red Hibiscus

These lovely, vivid flowering plants are so vital down here in southern Florida that the gardeners grow them as hedges and lop them off with shears. Sigh. Here's one from a bush outside our hotel. It's a 6" x 8" oil on panel titled, appropriately, Red Hibiscus. Purchase options on our web site. Enjoy.

Three Palms

You guessed it - I'm not in Ohio. It was time to shake the Winter blues and head for warmer climates. Here's the first of my impressions of the lovely flora of southern Florida. It's a little 8" x 6" titled "Three Palms." For purchases visit our site: klingerart.com. Thanks.

Winter Sky

One nice thing this down time has afforded me is the chance to notice skies. And they have been changing rapidly these days. I can see, photograph, and paint both close-up and far-off vistas from the comfort of my studio. I have a feeling there's a series coming. Here's a little 6" x 8" oil on panel I just finished called "Winter Sky." Enjoy.

Their Paths 2

Continuing on the theme of "paths," here's another from the series of inside-out paintings I've been doing lately. This is a view I saw a few days ago out our sunroom window. It's sort of an abstract view of one of the paths the deer use to get to their stream.

Painting Inside Out

In between unpacking, arranging, installing and networking - I'm also getting a bit of painting done - something I could not do at Springs Gallery. Here are a couple of the latest 6" x 8"s, painted "inside out" (I'm inside painting out). The first one's titled "Dinnertime" and the second is "Their Paths." It's amazing to consider they were painted just 2 days apart, thanks to this crazy weather we're having. I've posted these and others by me and some new raku by Jim on our website too: klingerart.com. Enjoy!

Whew! - We did it!

Some folks picked up their work and Jim and I moved the rest of Springs Gallery to our new digs at KLINGER STUDIOS in Yellow Springs. What a task that was! We are now organizing, planning and arranging. As you can see here (KS front entrance and lane pictures), it's not quite the right time to be open yet. But when the weather breaks - KLINGER STUDIOS will start to host gallery events and workshops. We will only be open for events, classes, and by appointment. If anyone has ideas or suggestions for visual, literary, culinary, or performance arts workshops you'd like to teach and/or see us present - please comment here or drop us an email or snailmail. We have lots of space! And please feel free to click to follow us here and/or on facebook. Thanks!
