We have a "bar code!"

As if modern technology weren't amazing enough - I just learned that there is a way for anyone/anywhere to find anyone (or any business) by scanning our bar codes! I made one for the gallery for a hoot - and posted it on the top right of this site. It's called a QR code, and if you have the button downloaded to your droid phone (or whatever high-tech version you have) - you can scan these QR codes (that we design) to get info. or a link to the site of any participants - businesses or individuals. Whooooaaa!

SPRINGS GALLERY PRESENTS JAMES AND CHRISTINE KLINGER

Springs Gallery is pleased to present the raku ceramic art of James Klinger, and the oil and acrylic paintings of Christine Klinger. The exhibit, titled, “Flora and Fauna — Recent Works of James and Christine Klinger” runs December 16 through February 16, 2012, with an opening reception Friday, December 16 from 6 to 9 pm. Goddess Images

Here they all are - hard at work, or should I say fun. If you see this - feel free to drop us a line. Or just enjoy.

Goddesses Rule!

A good time seemed to be had by all at the "Discover the Goddess Within" jewelry workshop led by Catherine Wicks yesterday here in Springs Gallery. Participants used their own findings, along with many donations from Catherine to create a necklace and complimentary earrings. She guided them through some of the "nuts and bolts" of jewelry construction, while generously donating a bit of her philosophy, spirituality, and personal tricks of the trade. Do we see a "Goddess II" on the horizon? Interested?

I made several photos of the event, coming soon; a few more will be on facebook. Enjoy!

-Christine

Newsy Stuff

Looks like the 11/5/11 jewelry class is a go - but there are still some spaces available if you're interested. Catherine is very creative and a hoot! Should be a fun time. Hope to see you there!

Also, if you're looking for a new blog to follow, consider my personal blog, ahem. It's http://klingerart.blogspot.com (or just click on the Christine Klinger Studios link in the links column on the right). It shows what I've been up to lately in the art realm and has lots of handy links and info. You could just go over for a visit and if you're interested - click on "join this site;" you can always "unjoin." If you're not interested - maybe you know a friend who would be. Anyway, enjoy!

Fun Times on Kings Yard!

Good times were had by all yesterday on what turned out to be a cool but beautiful, sunny day on Kings Yard in Yellow Springs, at Springs Gallery's second workshop with steel painter Mike Elsass. Mike provided all - including use of tuxedo shirts - and students went home with some of their own painting creations. The day also featured a brief, spontaneous poetry reading by local poet Pamela Barger. Pamela read a few pieces from her book titled, "Transformations." Painting to poetry - it seemed appropriate for the day.

This was Springs Gallery's second and final workshop with Mike Elsass for the year, but we plan to organize and host more workshops with Mike that will be held in his Dayton studio in January/February. So if this interests you - call or drop us a line.

We are also currently planning more classes and workshops in our Yellow Springs gallery, so stay tuned. And remember, if you are interested in taking or teaching a specific class or workshop with Springs Gallery - contact us with your ideas. Thanks!

Springs Gallery in the News Again

Both the Yellow Springs News and the Dayton Daily News have done very nice articles on Springs Gallery since we opened in April. The first, by Sehvilla Mann for the Yellow Springs News, was in June and the second, by Pam Dillon for the DDN, was just a few weeks ago.

In case you missed the articles when they came out, I tried adding links to them in a post here but it didn't seem to work. So I'm putting them in my Links I Like list to the right (where they belong, I guess). Anyway, enjoy.

P.S. Oh, and we're also on facebook now. Link's to the right for that too!

Springs Gallery offering 2 Painting Workshops

Springs Gallery is offering the first two of what we hope will be many, varied classes and workshops. On Wednesday, August 31, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and again on Thursday, September 15, 4 pm to 7 pm, we're hosting Dayton artist Mike Elsass, known for his abstract paintings on rusted steel. Mike and his students will be painting outside Springs Gallery on King's Yard. The cost is $70 for one session or $140 for both. All materials are provided, including the loan of a tuxedo shirt to get messy in.

Since it's on the public King's Yard you can, of course, just observe. But if you want to create and take home a piece of your own - just sign up. Registration forms are available in the gallery and the information is also posted here below.

Springs Gallery carries some of the work of Mike Elsass and we are thrilled to be able to offer the fun and informal instruction by such a talented and respected artist. Come join us in this adventure!

Note: All ages are welcome/rain or shine (unless it's pouring, of course, then we'll figure something out). Hope you can join us!

Above are 2 images I made of Mike's paintings. On the top/left is a 12 x 12" untitled piece, and on the bottom/right is a 12 x 15" painting titled "Teapot Rock 1, Sedona, Arizona."

Also, I did a travel story on Yellow Springs for the Dayton Daily News; set to come out this Sunday, 6/5/11. And I just heard from the Dayton City Paper - they want to do a story on Yellow Springs prior to the upcoming Art Stroll (6/17/11) and they plan to interview - Springs Gallery! This ties in nicely with our Grand Opening.

Hope to see you soon!

In case you're wondering...

I've been out of state for the past 2 weeks - vacationing and making art. Not the greatest timing with our new gallery just opening, but this trip was planned long before. I'm doing an art residency in a state park in South Carolina, but I'll be back at the gallery on 5/11. To see what I'm up to now, feel free to visit my other blog: www.klingerart.blogspot.com. (I tried this before but the link didn't show up, so I'm doing it "manually").
